After the earthquake, the Valley had an outbreak of coccidioidomycosis also known as “Valley Fever” a respiratory disease resulting of inhalation of airborne spores of a type of fungus.
The San Fernando Valley was known for advances in aerospace technology and nuclear research. Companies included Atomics International, Litton Industries and Santa Susana Field Laboratory were located in this region. In 1970s The Valley became popular for the production of adult films which it grew to become a multi-billion dollar pornography industry.
The most popular companies located in San Fernando Valley are CBS studio center, NBC Universal, Warner Bros, The Walt Disney Company and its television network ABC.

San Fernando Valley has a great number of parks and gardens including the CSUN Botanic Garden, The Japanese Garden, The Orcutt Ranch Horticulture Center, Mission San Fernando, Sepulveda Dam recreation area, Hansen Dam recreation area, and the Griffith Park.
The Griffith Park is one of the largest parks in North America, it has 4, 310 acres of land. The park has many wild and rugged natural areas with hiking and mountain bike trails. In addition this park offers the Griffith Observatory, golf courses, pony and train rides, tennis courts, plenty of picnic grounds, children playgrounds and concessions.
TV shows including The Closer and Criminal Minds made this park a busy destination for on-location film in 2011. The Griffith park was used as a location for the first two Back to The Future movies. Other movies that used the park as film location include: Rebel Without a cause, The Terminator, The Rocketeer, Van Helsing, The Majestic, Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
